Ed-itorial: OBJ, now a Raven, should unite Browns fans

Odell Beckham Jr. has agreed to a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens and maybe now all Cleveland Browns fans can finally unite to dislike the player?

Odell Beckham Jr. came to Cleveland via a trade with the New York Giants in March 2019 and the hype train was full speed a head but the production and the locker room drama that ensued that eventually “poisoned the well” for then quarterback Baker Mayfield as reported by ESPN’s Jaker Trotter proved to be greater.

Cleveland had high hopes going into 2019 as they reunited the tandom of Landry and Beckham that were best friends and teammates in college. The 2019 season turned out to be a disaster as head coach Freddie Kitchens could not handle being a disciplined and organized leader with the team finishing a disappointing 6-10. Beckham did have 74 catches for 1,035 yards but he wasn’t the impact player he had been while in New York.

OBJ played in only 7 games in 2020 after suffering a season ending injury against the Bengals in Cincinnati and in 2021 played in 6 games before being released by the team after the video by his father surfaced on Instagram in which the video highlighed, or should I say lowlighted, Baker Mayfield and his inability to get the ball to a wide-open Beckham.

Beckham would head to Los Angeles after his Cleveland release and win a Super Bowl ring in 2021 but once again got injured and did not play in 2022.

Many Browns fans especially on social media have been clamoring for Cleveland to resign Odell as they felt that all the drama was because of Baker Mayfield and his inability to throw the ball down the field. These fans will argue that many Browns players love OBJ and that a reunification in Cleveland could have worked.

I think that both OBJ and Baker were drama and that Cleveland has enough to deal with because of Watson so it was best to stay away which GM Andrew Berry ultimately did. Odell Beckham Jr. is now a Baltimore Raven and I shouldn’t have to go into why all Browns fans and any player on that team should be disliked.

Odell, you might have done the fanbase in Cleveland a favor by signing in Baltimore and honestly I don’t think too many Browns fans are scared of what you might do in the two games in which the Ravens and Browns battle. Actually, Mr. Beckham thank-you for possibly uniting a fan base that needs a lot of healing.
