Sunday’s SnoozeYouLose Pick

We head to American Family Field in Milwaukee, for the rubber match between the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals. While the Brewers took game one of this three game series, St. Louis bounced back shutting out Milwaukee 6-0 Saturday evening.

Nolan Arenado hit his 300th career home run, leading St. Louis to victory. Yesterdays win also gave Milwaukee its first home lost of the season, as they now sit 4-1. Offensively the Cardinals are hitting the ball well, but are only 3-5 on the season.

Jake Woodford takes the mound for St. Louis this afternoon, coming off a rough start against Atlanta. Woodford lasted only 4.1 innings giving up six earned runs. Woodford is filling in for injured Cardinals starter, Adam Wainwright.

Freddy Peralta takes the mound for the Brewers, looking to exercise some demons. The Cardinals have had Peralta’s number! He is 2-2 with a 6.59 ERA against St. Louis in 12 starts, and has lost three straight to the Cardinals throughout his career.

St. Louis was shutout Friday, and Milwaukee was shut out Saturday. If this was soccer, I would bet both teams to score, because a shutout today is highly unlikely. The Brewers should be able to get to Woodford early, so we just need Peralta to be solid and get through the top of the Cardinals lineup.

Official Pick: Brewers F5 -.5 (-115)

(For new bettors this means the Brewers need to be winning by the end of the fifth inning)
