What a race it was yesterday in Phoenix! William Byron coming off a win in Vegas, took stage 1, and a fast driving Kyle Larson, took stage 2.
Heading into Stage 3, you couldn’t begin to predict what was going to happen… Kyle Larson was fast all day, leading majority of the race, with Kevin Harvick right behind him.
With about 40 laps remaining, Kevin Harvick jumped out in front of Kyle Larson to take the lead. Harvick was looking for his 10th career win at Phoenix.
Once Harvick took the lead he left Larson in his rear view mirror and never looked back, Harvick had a 6 second lead over Larson, and he looked like he was going to run away with his 10th career win at Phoenix. Then the worst thing that could have happened, happened.
With 8 laps to go, Harrison Burton blew out a left front tire, and brought out the caution flag. Harvick, Larson, and Byron all used their pit stops, one mistake may have costed Harvick the win. While Harvick chose to change all 4 tires, Larson and Byron only changed 2 tires, which helped them get out of pit road faster than Harvick.
On the Restart, Harvick was in 7th place, Larson in the lead, and Byron in 2nd. With one more caution coming out, Larson blew a lead again, with William Byron passing him to take his second win in a row this season. Harvick finished in fifth.
