On Saturday, Anthony Richardson made history in Indianapolis.
The young QB draft prospect, broke multiple records at Lucas Oil Stadium, as he catapulted himself into the conversation for the #1 overall pick.
Following his combine performance on Saturday, FanDuel places Richardson as the second-best odds of being the first selection in the upcoming draft, following only, Bryce Young.
Richardson shined in Indy, leading the quarterbacks in every stat he competed in and stealing headlines left and right. Not only that but the Florida Gators QB 1, also broke, not one, but two, all-time records for the combine.
In the broad jump, Richardson jumped an astonishing 10 feet, 9 inches. Breaking a record held for over 15 years by Brad Smith, when he jumped 10 feet, 8 inches in 2006.
Richardson continued to turn heads with the vertical jump, setting another all-time record measuring in at 40.5 inches, which surpasses Josh Portis who jumped 40 inches flat in 2011.
Richardson’s performance on Saturday was truly superhuman. Just a few months ago, he was barely projected to go in the first round. Now, Richardson finds himself in contention for the number one selection in this year’s NFL Draft.
In his time at Florida, Richardson only played one full season. This past year in his junior campaign, he put up average stats, throwing 17 touchdowns and 8 interceptions, with a mediocre 53.8 completion percentage.
Richardson’s raw talent makes him an intriguing draft pick, but with minimal college production, the risk surrounding him seems great.
There’s no doubt that Anthony Richardson is a physical freak, but is that enough to be the number one overall pick? Let us know on Twitter @WeLikeSportzPC.
