I walked up to him, the NBA champion and All-Star Forward and said, “you are a beautiful man.” Kevin Love shook my hand and laughed. It was Friday March 2, 2018 and my family and I won a contest in which we were going to shoot a HULU SPORTS commercial and play HORSE with the Cavs star.

After the initial encounter, Kevin proceeded to warm up by draining 10 straigtht 3-pointers from the left corner and I have to mention this was during the 2018 season in which Kevin was still recovering from a broken hand. His injury did not seem to bother him on this day.
Kevin’s demeanor and infectious smile brightened up the court. I was warming up next to him and conversing with some small talk. I had him cracking up when he was shooting and I began singing Beach Boys songs. Kevin’s uncle, Mike Love, was a Beach Boys’ member so Kevin turned to me and said, “that’s pretty funny.” Who knew my horrible singing would be such a fun moment.
When it was time to play our game of HORSE, Kevin said, “let’s all play!” I thought what a cool guy considering it was just suppose to be my boy and him playing. He had fun talking to my daughter and was geniunely interested in what she was saying. The HORSE game was not very competitve but my son did make a memorable behind the basket shot that got Kevin to scream, “ooooooooohh!” Also when we were done, Kevin said, “let’s play one more” to the chargin of his publicist who was with him that day.
I will never forget how Kevin Love was just a regular dude hanging with people he had just met but acting like we were family. Kevin also signed a bunch of basketballs, jersey, and trading cards for us. Kevin Love’s generiousity with his time is just indictive of the wonderful person that he truly is.
No matter what happens with Kevin’s career I know I will always cherish the 2016 championship but even more the day I met Kevin Love.
