The Great Alex Ovechkin took time away from his NHL team, the Washington Capitals, for personal family reasons.

It was announced by Ovi himself that his father has passed away via instagram.

“Today I lost my father…. I thank everyone for the support but please be understanding and do not disturb my family in this difficult time for us! Thank you.”

We want to send prayers to the Ovechkin family. We ask the hockey world and the sports world to send prayer. Our condolences Ovi!
