Happy Valentine’s Day everyone especially my fellow Cleveland sports fans. Today is all about love and affection but the opposite of that is pain and heartbreak. Cleveland sports fans know all too well how the latter goes so I want to give my top five Cleveland sports heartbreaks because they say it helps to get over such painful experiences by discussing them, I’m not to sure about that.
Cleveland has such historic heartbreaks that the historian’s have put a “The” in front of major ones. The Drive, The Fumble, The Shot (MJ over Ehlo), and The Blown Save but for this exercise and to try to hide my age I’m going to keep the heartbreak in the 21st century.
Here is my top 5 Cleveland sports heartbreaks counting down to most painful:
5. Baker Mayfield – say what you want about the polarizing figure but after the 2020 season most Browns fans thought we had found the guy. A nice playoff win in Pittsburgh to go along with a down the stretch that included 20 TD’s and only 2 INT’s. His demise for a number of reasons hurts but also because picking the wrong QB with the number one draft pick is a cardinal sin.
