With Derek Carr’s up and coming visit to the New Orleans Saints, let’s look at a few potential destinations Carr would benefit.
Derek Carr who threw for 3,522 yards with a QBR rating of 86.3 and a turnover ratio of 24:14, looks to visit the New Orleans Saints. With the Saints having major injuries within their QB position, the four time Pro Bowler would be an ideal candidate and make a sufficient contribution to the Saints. Carr, going into the 2022-2023 season has only missed three games in nine years. He has been one of the more consistent and healthy quarterbacks in the league , and would be a valid , as well as, healthy option for the Saints who look to upgrade from their current QB situation.
With the Saints being roughly $60 million over the cap the big question is, how can the Saints pick up a $40 million dollar contract and still get rid of the extra $60 million dollars over in cap space?
As of right now Derek Carr has only visited the Saints but look for that to change as we dive deeper into Superbowl week.
Rumors have been circulating the league of other potential suitors for the Pro bowl QB as well. A potential team and good fit for Derek Carr would be the Indianapolis Colts . With their current QB carousel it wouldn’t be as far fetched to see a potential visit to the Hoosier State.
The Colts who started three different Quarterbacks in the 2022-2023 season are looking for something more stable at the QB position. With Quarterback Matt Ryan, having the worst season of his career, only throwing for 3,057 yards and a turnover ratio of 14:13. Ryan finished the season with a QBR rating of 83.9 with only 12 starts.
For the first time in his 15 year career, veteran, Matt Ryan, had an all time career low in every category. On the flip side, Derek Carr, had a Pro Bowl year throwing for over 3,500 yards along with QBR of 86.3 and a TD – INT ratio of 24:14, in addition, Carr is looking for a long term home. It wouldn’t be a shot in the dark, seeing Derek Carr, in a Blue and White Horseshoe uniform next year.
