News : Sean Payton and DeMeco Ryans Hired

The NFL had major hiring news Tuesday, as the biggest name, Sean Payton, has agreed to become the Denver Broncos head coach, and, the Houston Texans, hired DeMeco Ryans.

The Denver Broncos had interviewed Jim Harbaugh, David Shaw, Raheem Morris, Dan Quinn, and Jim Caldwell but landed Sean Payton, by far making the biggest splash.

The Broncos were looking for a strong leader while searching for a head coach, and Payton, had that trait. Sean Payton will become the 19th coach in Broncos history.

What did Denver have to give up? The Broncos traded to the New Orleans Saints, the 29th pick overall in this years NFL Draft along with, a second-round pick in 2024.

The Broncos, will receive Payton, and a 2024 third-round selection.

The former Saints coach, brings with him a Super Bowl winning pedigree, along with being NFL’s Coach of the Year in 2006. The biggest task ahead for Payton , will be reviving Russell Wilson, and the Denver pass attack.

The other coaching vacancy filled on Tuesday, was the Houston Texans, hiring former 49ers Defensive Coordinator, DeMeco Ryans. Both parties agreed on a six-year deal, and Ryans had interviewed for several head coaching jobs outside of Houston, before being hired.

Ryans is now back home in Houston, where he was drafted in 2006, and was the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Ryans biggest task, will be resurrecting a horrid Texans defense, that allowed the most rushing yards per game in the NFL.

How much of an improvement will Sean Payton and DeMeco Ryans give their respective teams in the future? Let us know on Twitter @WeLikeSportzPC .
