When: Sunday January 29, 2023

Time: 3:00pm EST

Where: Lincoln Financial Field – Philadelphia, PA

The first ticket punched to Super Bowl LVII will come from the National Football Conference when “Championship Sunday” starts, in Philadelphia. The Bengals at Chiefs follow this clash with kickoff at 6:30 pm EST.

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to get back to the Super Bowl, they previously won in 2018 and the San Francisco 49ers want to avenge their loss from the 2020 season.

The Niners have played in 17 NFC title games, winning seven, while Philadelphia has played in seven and have came out victorious three times.

Keys for Niners to win : San Francisco will want to run the football, that is why they traded for Christian McCaffrey. In all three of the Eagles losses this season, the team has surrenedered over 115 yards on the ground. On the offensive side, the Niners will want to keep rookie sensation Brock Purdy upright as the Eagles led the NFL with 70 sacks.

On defense the Niners will have to try and shut down Jalen Hurts, and that will be a difficult task, because the San Francisco pass rush is aggressive. If they overpursue, Hurts can hurt them with the deep ball while scrambling. The Niners will look to keep momentum on their side and look to succeed on the turnover side.

Keys for the Eagles to win : Philadelphia will look for balance on offense, and that starts with NFL MVP candidate Jalen Hurts. Hurts is a complete quarterback who can beat teams with his deep ball, but also his running. The Eagles, will look to take advantage of the zone coverage voids in San Francisco’s defensive game. The Eagles will most likely use a lot of play-action to accomplish this.

On defense, Philadelphia, will look to get plenty of pressure on Niners’ quarterback, Brock Purdy. The 49ers quarterback has been on quite a ride, but has yet to see a defense of this caliber. The Eagles, will also look to shut down the run game, and make the rookie quarterback beat them.

This game has all the makings of a nail-biter. The Niners have won 12 straight, while the Eagles are 15-1 with Jalen Hurts, as the starter. Something has to give, we will find out at least one participant in this year’s Super Bowl before the kickoff, in Kansas City.

My prediction: Eagles fly to Glendale to represent the NFC with a 27-24 victory.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
