During the current MLB offseason , the Chicago White Sox signed, Mike Clevinger, to a one-year , 8 million dollar deal.
As of Tuesday, Mike Clevinger was under investigation by Major League Baseball.
Clevinger is being investigated following allegations of domestic violence involving the mother of his 10-month-old daughter and child abuse.
Clevinger more than likely has his playing future in jeopardy following this news.
The White Sox have said that they weren’t familiar with these accusations of Clevinger before signing him this offseason.
Per ESPN, the Chicago White Sox said this in a statement:
“Major League Baseball and the Chicago White Sox take any and all allegations very seriously, and the White Sox are completely supportive of the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse policy shared by MLB and the MLBPA.
The White Sox continued on in their statement saying:
“MLB opened an investigation after learning of these allegations. The White Sox were not aware of the allegations or the investigation at the time of his signing. The White Sox will refrain from comment until MLB’s investigative process has reached its conclusion.”
